Library Trustees discuss director review, lending policy, and fundraising.

Library Trustee · Meeting of January 27, 2026

MIDDLEFIELD — Library Trustees review director performance and plan formal lending policy for decertified towns. Chair Tonya Santaniello and member Donna Breen discussed Director Lois Leonardo-Bell's accomplishments and goals during the annual review, with Santaniello assigned to document the evaluation. The board reached consensus that towns should financially support their own libraries rather than rely on neighboring tax dollars, with Santaniello drafting a formal policy for circulation to decertified Massachusetts communities.

The library holds approximately $4,700 in remaining budget and faces potential budget pressure if state grants for CWMARS membership, currently $460 annually, are eliminated, which would raise the cost to $2,000 per year.
