Middlefield Select Board moves toward solar and battery storage regulations. The board heard a presentation from Michael Hugo of the Massachusetts Association of Health Boards on emerging concerns in Massachusetts municipalities, including a case requiring 42.9-acre brownfield cleanup and another where a developer withdrew his proposal. Hugo recommended forming an inter-board committee from the Board of Health, Conservation Commission, Planning Board, Fire Chief, and Zoning Board, with authority to hire legal counsel.
Hugo will return September 30 to assist in drafting bylaws. The board also recommended continued use of the Wetland Study for Transfer Station modifications and received word that Senior Center renovations will begin September 21.
