Select Board, Finance Committee approve free cash transfers; budget vote delayed to April 15

Middlefield Select Board and Finance Committee approved $120,000 in free cash transfers to stabilization accounts on April 1. Ann Marie Visconti, Chair, and Finance Committee Chair Brent LeBeau oversaw transfer of $15,000 to the School Stabilization account and $45,000 each to Highway, Fire, and Police stabilization accounts. Town Administrator Evan Kenney recommended a 2.8 percent Cost of Living Adjustment for hourly employees and additional funding for state-mandated Skyline Dump testing; the board deferred the final FY 2027 budget vote to April 15.
The board also approved articles for a $20,000 snowplow purchase and $25,000 in Town Hall security cameras from free cash.
